Founded in 2017, River Tree began with a bold vision: to transform the way homes and communities are built in Atlantic Canada.
What started as a small, family-run development company quickly grew into a multi-division enterprise that now includes
custom net-zero homes, regenerative land planning, wellness and retreat spaces, and community-centered projects.
From the beginning, our mission has been clear: to build better, healthier environments for families while restoring the land we live on. About Marlaina
Marlaina Granter is the Founder and CEO of River Tree Developments, a company dedicated to building sustainable, net-zero homes that promote environmental responsibility and the well-being of residents. She believes that environmental wellness is the foundation of human health—when we care for the land, we create healthier lives and stronger communities.
Alongside her work at RiverTree Developments, Marlaina also serves as a community nurse through River Tree Wellness, her sister company. Here she combines her healthcare expertise with her passion for sustainable living, creating a truly holistic approach to wellness.
Through her leadership, Marlaina ensures that every home and community River Tree creates not only reduces environmental impact, but also enhances the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the people who call them home.
About Nicholas
Nicholas Granter is the Chief Operating Officer and Head of the Forestry Department at RiverTree Developments, where he oversees land stewardship, sustainable forestry practices, and operational strategy. With a background as a professional pilot, Nicholas brings a unique perspective to environmental management, combining precision, adaptability, and a deep respect for natural systems.
At River Tree, Nicholas leads efforts in forest regeneration, land preservation, and long-term sustainability planning. His vision is to balance responsible development with the health of Nova Scotia’s forests, ensuring that every River Tree project not only provides homes for families but also protects and revitalizes the land for future generations.
